AFFIRMATIVE ACTIONS AT THE FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF PAMPA/RS: MANAGEMENT PERSPECTIVES AND PERSPECTIVES
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article seeks to present a set of achievements of the Federal University of Pampa – UNIPAMPA in relation to the implementation of affirmative action policies, which have been prioritized in the current administration. Throughout the text, the various legislations that represent a legal framework that anchors affirmative actions and impose to university management the creation of mechanisms capable of implementing such regulations are examined. It starts with the understanding of the importance of an institutional effort capable of giving vent to the needs of historically marginalized social segments, which go beyond access to the university space, involving actions in favor of the permanence and promotion of education to overcome racism and ethnic-racial discrimination. Actions in these different dimensions are pointed out, evaluating their reach and proposing a reflection on the limits imposed on managers in a context of economic and social crisis, marked by the pandemic and budget constraints. It emphasizes the expectations generated around the arrival of a black rector to the rectory and the reflection on the possibility of meeting the demands posed by social movements linked to indigenous and Afro-Brazilians.
