Abstract
The current Brazilian educational context, marked by the emergence of Afro-Brazilian ethnicity, place the centers for Afro-Brazilian studies (NEABs) in the scenario of Brazilian academy as important actors in the process of analysis, discussion and intervention in this new educational setting. The actions of NEABs have focused on the (re) production of knowledge of Afro-Brazilian and Africa history and culture, in the production of didactic material on this theme and the construction of training spaces for basic education teachers seeking the implementation of Law 10639/03. Based on this parameter, this article intends to describe and discuss the actions developed by the NEAB from the Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, highlighting the III Extension Course in History and Black Culture, pointing out the challenges, opportunities and issues surrounding a teacher training experience on the subject of history and black culture.
