Abstract
Abstract: This work is the result of a mostly qualitative investigation which sought to ascertain the potentials and limitations to the implementation of Law No. 10.639/03 through the “Cycle of Maracatu de Baque Virado workshops”. Such pedagogical activity was developed by the author in 2018 at a state school located in Duque de Caxias (RJ), municipality of Baixada Fluminense region. The participant-research was referenced, mainly, in the “Afro-brazilian civilizing values” proposed by Azoilda Trindade to enable the learning of the aphrodiasporic cultural manifestation on screen. The Maracatu workshops proved to be na importante tool for breaking silences and inferiorities in the school. This research also points the fact that the “school culture” of the public school is not always secular, highlighting the ambiguity of racismo in brazilian society.
