Abstract

This text is an description of experience lived in the Quilombola Dona Juscelina Community in Muricilãndia -TO, aiming to seize the meanings of the space lived regarding the preparation for the Celebration of Abolition in May 13th, preceding with the Dawn of the Abolition and culminating in the realization of the Theatre of Abolition in the open air. This is a space-time where the subjects build their quilombola identity, in the strengthening of the territorial disputes of this community, in a place of discourse where there are oppositions, Presences of the Other (LANDOWSKI, 2002, 2015), felt in the unsettling rite in a space of political discourse, of provocations that question the denied rights as a reflection of coloniality. These rites (SEGALEN, 2002) have in music, dance, and objects, as well as in theater, elements that mark a territory (i) material, which claim social spaces and come out of invisibility. The use, as the quilombolas make of this place, is what gives sense to the place (TUAN, 2013). In this case, the use of language (FONTANILLE, 2014) is relevant, because this is what constitutes life in society. The Abolition Festival as the main festival that marks the identity of this community, has a historicity (DA MATA, 1987), coming from the ancestors of the matriarch, lived in the quilombo space (RATT, 2006), in daily life, in reference to the context of local knowledge coloniality (MIGNOLO, 2003), in times of globalization. It is relevant to show that a party organized mostly by women and their representativeness in the community, as leaders who live this moment a political act.
