Abstract

This article is a derivation of the master's research reflections, which analyzed the work developed with capoeira in a municipal school in Nova Iguaçu, city in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The survey, which identifies the More Education Program, from the Ministry of Education, as one of the main entry doors of capoeira in schools of the public municipal, state and district system, tried to understand, also, how the program has guided the contemporary dialogue between the school and capoeira. The ethnographic research made use of participant observation in capoeira classes and analysis of the documents governing the activities of the Program. he first findings of the study indicate: (1) the relevance of the More Education Program for introduction of capoeira in schools; (2) the consonance of the prospects of the Ministries of Education and Culture, which recognize capoeira as intangible heritage; (3) a new approach to capoeira in the school environment, which differs from past proposals; (4) predominance of an approach that enhances the sporting aspects of capoeira in the universe studied.
