Abstract

This article presents an experience of Florestan Fernandes Municipal School, located in the northern region of Belo Horizonte, and a reference in the implementation of LDB 9394/96, modified by law 10639/03, over a decade. It will be analyzed the importance of the institutionalization of the racial theme in the school, emphasizing the school management and collective work as fundamental components for the realization of an education for racial and anti-racist relations. It is intended to emphasize the project "The Right to Religious Freedom in School: Building Ethical Values ​​for a Peaceful Coexistence", held in 2016, as a successful experience in facing religious intolerance, that mainly affects African and Afro-Brazilian religious matrices.
