Abstract

This theoretical essay seeks to discuss the reasons for the inclusion of blacks in work organizations in response to the question posed in the classroom by students from different Higher Education Institutions: "Why do I have to hire black workers?". For this purpose, through a literature review of the narrative type, relevant aspects of diversity management in the organizations were addressed; socioeconomic-demographic data of the Brazilian population; examined the historical aspects of the social formation of the country; and indicated values associated with the inclusion of minorities. It was concluded that, although there are no penalties for not hiring blacks - except in cases of blatant discrimination - that oblige entrepreneurs to do so, there are reasons that strongly suggest equal consideration in selective processes and in work of more prestige and remuneration.
