Abstract

The present article is a result of a master’s thesis linked to the “Observatório da Educação” (Observatory on Education), Ethnic and racial relationship, gender and social inequality from the 6th to the 9th years in elementary education in state public schools in Campo Grande-MS, financed by CAPES/INEP. Teachers that work in the final years of the elementary education in a school with a high Basic Education Development Index (IDEB) participated in the survey. The main goal is to rise a discussion on teachers’ continuing education, showing, the teachers view on the (in) visibility to the ethnic and racial relationships, considering the implementation of the law 10.639/2003. We conclude that the teachers’ continuing education should assure a background to the ethnic and racial relationships, so they could help the deconstruction of the racial democracy myth, the racist and discriminatory relationships that take place in the school space.
