JONGO AS A WAY TO NEW EDUCATIONAL PRAXIS
Main Article Content
Abstract
: In this paper we deal with the possibilities of using African cultural practices, especially jongo, as cultural devices that contribute to new school practices. Therefore, we have investigated the experiment with a jongo group of children from Escola Municipal Cortines Cerqueira in Barra do Piraí/RJ, in order to check how jongo enables to rethink inclusive and multiple practices, aiming at promoting ethnic-racial relations in the curriculum. Through bibliographical research and interviews with two teachers, this paper searches to reflect upon how jongo - since it is an African-Brazilian cultural practice - needs to be valued and widespread all over the schools in favor of an education concerned with the oral memory and the cultural diversity.
