Abstract
The current article presents the partial results from a research which pursued to analyse the representations of black and indigenous people on textbooks from the Elementary and Middle School focusing on the process of production and reception. During this investigation, the changes and permanences related to the black and indigenous people’s representations after the approval of the laws 10.639/03 and 11.645/08, and how it is reflected on the conceptions built by the teachers and students, were analyzed. It starts from the following question: in which measure can the changes and permanences related to the representation of the black and indigenous people be observed, considering the moment influenced by the context of the laws 10.639/03 e 11.645/08?
