THE TEACHING OF HISTORY AND AFRO-BRAZILIAN CULTURE: USES AND UNDERSTANDINGS OF THE LAW 10.639/03
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article aims to discuss ways of approaching and implementing of law 10.639 / 03, as well as the directions presented in the National Curricular Guidelines for Ethnic and Racial Relations Education and for Teaching Afro-Brazilian and African History and Culture of 2004. The creation of these legal devices aims to contemplate the study of the history of Africa beyond the context of slavery. Demystifying, deconstructing stereotypes and unilateral and eurocentric discourses is an urgent task on the part of educational professionals who also need to collaborate so that the student improves the critical sense and perceives the diversity of social actors that compose the history of Brazil and that for so long remained silent on the pages of textbooks and school debates.
