IN THE LIGHT OF LAW 10.639/03, ADVANCES AND CHALLENGES: BLACK SOCIAL MOVEMENTS, EDUCATIONAL LEGISLATION AND PEDAGOGICAL EXPERIENCES

Abstract
The present article analysis the Law 10.639/03, its advances and challenges, considering the politics actions of the Black Movement, from the decade of 1980, that result in the approbation of the educational legislation (2003, 2004 and 2009) that proposes the teaching of the ethnical-racial relations, the History of Africa and afro-Brazilian culture. We also study some pedagogical experiences of the implementation process of the mentioned Law. At first, we prepared a brief history of anti-racist movement’s claims, which fought for political action in defense of changes in the education for ethno-racial relations and in school curriculum; subsequently, we bring some information about the long and arduous process of its progress in the National Congress until the approval by the Federal Executive, in 2003, and its political and pedagogical developments over the last ten years.
