Abstract
Abstract: Triggered by the data from the Continuous National Household Sample Survey (PNAD) Education 2022 and Continuous National Household Sample Survey (PNAD) Labor of children and adolescents aged 5 to 17 years - 2016 to 2019, which showed that out of 10 adolescents who drop out of high school, 7 are Black, predominantly male, with the same proportion repeating concerning child labor, the article aimed to answer the question: why in Brazil, Black adolescents are the ones who drop out of the school system the most and are most exposed to child labor? For the development of possible answers, a qualitative approach was employed in data analysis. The theoretical, methodological, and practical perspective of intersectionality guided our reflections, as it is understood that social and identity markers such as race, gender, class, generation, and others intersect, proposing a more sophisticated map of social inequality (COLLINS, BILGE, 2020).
