RACIAL CRITICAL THEORY AND RACIAL CRITICAL LITERACY: COUNTER-NARRATIVES AND NARRATIVES OF RACIAL IDENTITY OF LANGUAGE TEACHERS

Abstract
The article aims to analyze autobiographical narratives of social identities of race of language teachers. The goal is to understand what are the meanings attributed to the racial identity of blacks and whites in autobiographical narratives. The theoretical framework used to analyze autobiographical narratives is the Critical Race Theory - CRT (Ladson-Billings, 1998). In conclusion, the meanings attributed to the words for black racial identity and white racial identity that are brought in autobiographical narratives are senses used in ways that disfavor the black racial identity and favor white racial identity and, yet, many of the examples presented in the narratives, put white racial identity as the norm.
