AFFIRMATIVE ACTION AT UERJ, CHALLENGING "RACIAL QUOTAS": EXPERIENCE REPORT

Abstract
The present experience report will approach the process of institutionalization of affirmative action policies, in Rio de Janeiro, and the effectiveness of procedures for the access and permanence of students entering by reservetion of vacancies, at the University of the State of Rio de Janeiro, from the first laws, the first entrance exam, in 2003, to the present day. The effectiveness and vicissitudes of such policies will be demonstrated in the course of the report. For those who understand the complexity that involves schooling in a broad way, and the access and permanence in higher education in Brazilian society, for the Afro-Brazilian population, in particular, is the invitation to read the Thematic Dossier of the ABPN Magazine “10 years of UENF's NEABI: production of knowledge and other possibilities in the fight against structural racism”.
