Main Article Content
Abstract
This study discusses the conceptions of race and miscegenation as formulated in some articles published by the journal Educação Physica between 1939 and 1944 when Hollanda Loyola was its technical editor. The texts were analyzed as part of a scenario marked by a heated debate about Brazilian racial formation, a theme that reverberated in periodical publications. In that context, the journal Educação Physica held ambiguous and divergent perspectives on race and miscegenation, but with an inclination towards notions that exalted whitening and whiteness.
