THE ART OF CAPOEIRA AS ANCESTRY'S MARK OF AFRICAN AND AFRO-BRAZILIAN CULTURE: FOR THE EMERGENCY OF A PLURAL CURRICULUM

Abstract
This work presents partial results of a research in the line of foucaultian theories and the analysis of speech about the practices of Capoeira. The study was made based on the testimonies of practitioners, masters, foremen and instructors of this art. It attempts to discuss the Capoeira in the contemporaneity as a practice which, at the same time, retains traces of African peoples ancestry and history, and incorporates elements from other cultures. It defends that the Capoeira becomes a powerful tool of learning about African and Afro-Brazilian cultures, complying with the Brazilian Law 10.639/03. It calls the educators attention to the place that the capoeira may occupy in the school curriculum, as art that not only restores the African heritage, but allows the living of cultural diversity.
