DISCOURSES ON RACE, RACISM, AND ETHNIC-RACIAL RELATIONS EDUCATION: A CASE STUDY IN A GRADUATION CLASS
Main Article Content
Abstract
: This text aims to analyze the discourses on race, racism and education of ethnic-racial relations in an ethnic-racial relations education group at a university in the south of Goiás. As a theoretical reference, we used studies on whiteness. With methodology, we used procedures of analysis of content for analysis of speeches and texts produced in the classroom. At first, spontaneous talk about race, racism, and ethnic-racial relations education is explored in focus groups. In the second moment, talks about the theme are explored after theoretical reflection on Law 10.639/03, of racism and videos on black population and education. With the theoretical collection, the students expressed modified speech about race, racism and education of ethnic-racial relations, emphasizing the importance of combating racism in education. However, there was a tendency not to assume the role of the teacher in the maintenance of racism.
