Abstract

This paper aims to report and discuss an experience of developing a visual identity for the Nucleus of Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous Studies at State University of North Fluminense Darcy Ribeiro (UENF) — NEABI-UENF, from the perspective that graphic design is language and therefore composes the construction of the narrative of NEABI-UENF, a perspective that is articulated with the theoretical and methodological referential of Design Thinking. The methodology used is the experience report, complemented with literature review, graphic-visual records of the development of graphic language and testimonials from those involved in the process. This report describes hypotheses and proposals for transversal applications between design and affirmative politics as a methodology for popular communication and a policy of social affirmation.
