ENVIRONMENTAL RACISM IN SAO PAULO METROPOLITAN AREA: BETWEEN ALLEYS OF SÃO PAULO
Main Article Content
Abstract
In face of the current socio-environmental crisis experienced in the world aggravated by climate change, it is essential to focus on the most vulnerable populations, thinking of fairer planning alternatives, identifying where there is an urgent need for action. Therefore, we seek to demonstrate how the degraded environment and the worst living conditions are determined for the poor black people and residents of the outskirts of São Paulo city. Using data from the Census (2010), the Map of Inequality (2020) and journalistic material, we raise the debate on Environmental Racism, the inconsistencies and the complexities of the metropolis of São Paulo.
