Abstract
This paper aims to present the Critical Whiteness Studies potential to analyze the historiography about the University of São Paulo foundation and its very historical narratives. In order to do so it presents the racial thought found in the context of USP foundation in the 1930's, the whiteness concept and how it has been used in the field of History in Brazil, and how the ideas this concept brings support an interpretation about the production of silence on race and on black people in the University of São Paulo constitutional narratives.
