Abstract
In this essay, conference for the event “Florestan Fernandes 100 years: democracy and social changes in Brazil”, held by the State University of Campinas, in 2020, I reflect on connections and distances between the Sociology of Race Relations of Florestan Fernandes and the perspectives of Black researchers in the 1970s, mainly historian Beatriz Nascimento and sociologist Eduardo de Oliveira e Oliveira.
