RE-ORI-ENTAR: BEATRIZ NASCIMENTO AND MÃE BEATA DE YEMONJÁ, AFRO-ATLANTIC HISTORIANS
Main Article Content
Abstract
This essay aims to reflect on an afroreferenced writing of Brazilian history, based on Afro-Atlantic narratives, stressing and analysing perspectives proposed by two Afro-Brazilian intellectuals: Mãe Beata de Yemonjá and Beatriz Nascimento. For this, the discussions about blackness, racism and aphrodiasporic inheritances in Brazil will be taken as references, such as carried out by them, as well as their trajectories of anti-racist/anti-sexist militancy and affirmation of black African identity. From this perspective, we defend the importance of re-ori-enting the debate about the history of race relations in Brazil and criticizing the hegemonic perspectives of Brazilian historiography, essential to reaffirm the commitment to an anti-racist/anti-sexist/anti-classist education.
