Abstract
Abstract: This study aimed to grasp the conceptions of quilombola individuals about work. Exploratory and qualitative research with 49 members from two quilombola communities of Recôncavo Baiano. The collection was made through semi-structured interviews, the results were processed by the IRAMUTEQ software that generated graphs and allowed the identification of seven classes, named in acronym to the content of the words that compose them. The job description and routine is revealed as a natural way to purchase consumer goods, to be honorable and useful, being associated with living and being healthy, however, was recognized as difficult and heavy. For quilombolas, the physical inadequacies of work constitute a determinant of the health-disease process. It is necessary to implement actions that guide them about the influence of work aspects on their health.
