Abstract

This article aims to present the itinerary run by Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (UFMS) during the process to implement Quota Policy and committees to check self-identification of race in order to be admitted blacks under-graduated students.  For this purpose, we use official documents and bibliographical research, looking for a link between those documents and the practices that materialize the Banks that have been evaluated the veracity of the black candidates’ self-declarations for vacancies destinated to black students (black and brown). Heteroidentification is one of the elements for the develop affirmative action policies in higher education in Brazil after the 12.711/2012 Federal Law. The UFMS developed the heteroidentification committees through documents that made them official and standardized. The work carried out by the evaluation and verification committees represents an advance to implement of quota’s policy in UFMS. Additionally, we highlight its importance to minimize frauds.
