Main Article Content
Abstract
This article discusses the relationship of Terreiro Peoples with Law and Public Policies, aiming to highlight the consequences of this connection in the lives of the individuals that make up the Terreiro Traditional Population. From a brief sample of what exists in the country regarding the actions of the State, the implications of these laws are verified in the experiences and in the configuration of who these Peoples are within Brazilian society. The legal frameworks are the basis for these populations to access rights, as well as some current Public Policies that have been implemented by the Government in order to mitigate the legacy of exclusion and marginalization to which these communities are subject from the period of colonization to the present day. Finally, this article presents suggestions of strategies that may contribute to the implementation of Public Policies focused on the particularities of Terreiro Communities.
