Abstract
the article investigated, the thematic about the representations about the spell through handwritten sources, oral testimonies [interview] and bibliography. From the experience of people who would have experienced in the family the evil effects of the spell, historiography was searched for references to construct an analysis of this phenomenon, which can be considered a “long-lasting phenomenon”, according to historian Fernando Braudel. These narratives are present, above all, in the Afro-descendant population, since it is an interpretation derived from the ancestors in the condition of enslaved in the process of the diaspora of the Africans in the modern period.
