Abstract
This article aims to approacer the racism aspects generated during the process of Capoeira’s dissemination in Vitória da Conquista-BA, analyzing storiess kept in the memories of the Capoeira’s Masters, pointed out in the city as the main disseminators of this corporal practice until decade of 1950 until 1970. For so on, it was used as teoric-metodological basis the studies of Nora (1993), Fentress and Wickham (1992), Portelli (1997) and Meihy (2010). The memories of the conflicts kept in the master’s memories made it possible to investigate the forms of the process of dissemination of Capoeira, and as racism was present in its historical development in the city. The results point out the presence of racist speech, discrimination and socioeconomic exclusion, evidencing the economic-spatial division, which placed Capoeira on the margins during the period evidenced in this study.
