Abstract

This article aims to present an argumentative line about the persistence of the phenomenon of quilombagem in the history of Brazil, whose proposal I attribute to the intellectual Maria Beatriz Nascimento in her lectures and writings on the history and historiography about black people in Brazil. This social peculiarity, this historical particularity, is seen on different prisms, juridical, economic, social, historical, trying to understand what would be the nature of this form of social organization and what would be the criteria of typification of these black groupings that seem to be of any order: military, economic, political, religious.
