Abstract

In this work, we will try to discuss the presence of the black intellectual as an agent of literacy. From a brief genealogy of the discussions about the intellectual in the occident, we sketch an analysis in which the relation of these with the power could not be experienced in the same way by the black man, thus the idea of the black like intellectual until almost half of Century XX, was interdicted in much of the narrative about the thinker, the intellectual or the philosopher. The black intellectual as one who puts himself against power and organizes a collective struggle for power, is an important figure in the literacy processes of black culture, in order to join efforts for the construction of a collective insurgency. We finally point to Rap as one of those agencies that mobilized black literacy for the insurgency. Our discussion establishes dialogues with: Nilma Lino Gomes (2010), bell hooks (1995), Bobbio (1997), Ana Lucia Souza (2011), among others.
