Main Article Content
Abstract
The history of blacks in Brazil is marked by a racist and segregationist mentality even legitimized by the state. In this scenario, several scientific theories were formulated in order to understand the presence of blacks in Brazilian society and their relationships. This study aims to analyze these main racial theories in order to understand how identity discourses were forged for those historical subjects that often legitimized empowerment actions of racism. The research is based on a literature review on the subject and an empirical-analytic approach.
