Lélia Gonzalez e outras mulheres: black feminist thought, anti-racism and anti-sexism
Main Article Content
Abstract
The following article aims at giving an overview of the work of setting-up the Black Feminism Movement in Brazil between the decades 1970 and 1980. In order to describe it, we have as basis the work developed by Lelia Gonzalez as the main interlocutor of this reflective work. In the recent Past (and up to now) we used to call the movement as the Movement of Black Women, when we gave note to some of the first women to be part of the leadership. The fact that we called Black women did not exclude the non-blacks from the History of feminism in Brazil. In this work, we give rise to the role of academics like Lélia and Beatriz Nascimento in the anti-racist and anti-sexist struggle in contemporary Brazil.
