Abstract

The article “Doesn’t love have a color?! Gender and Race/Color in the Affective Choices of Black Women and Men in Bahia and Rio Grande do Sul” emerges from a swirl of motives, which stem as much from the observation of the speeches and silences of everyday life, as from the questions raised by academic studies on race relations. We bring together in this article a reading which probes micro and macro data on the world of affect between men and women who self-identify as  black, focusing on aspects of selectivity and perception in affective life.
