UNDERSTANDING THE CONCEPT OF INSTITUTIONAL RACISM
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article seeks to revisit the conceptual use of the term Institutional Racism. The author takes into consideration the increasing attention that this concept has been gaining in Brazil, and the fact that it has been utilized in incomplete ways. It seeks to bring forward the origins of the discussion and the current value of the insights afforded by them when the debate emerged. By disregarding those insights there is the risk of ignoring their important contributions for the debate and for the overcoming of racial discrimination.
