QUILOMBOLAS GURUTUBANOS: HISTORY AND CULTURE

Abstract
In this paper, we discuss the history of the inhabitants of the Gurutubano territory, that is, the quilombola people who been living in the valley of Gurutuba River, located at the Mid-Northern region of Minas Gerais, since the 18th century. The objective is that they get in contact with their history and have it written down, once these have not been done yet. Such research is mainly aimed at the gurutubanos, and afterwards, at the teachers, professors, researchers and whoever feels connected to this subject. Therefore, we present social historical and cultural facts regarding the inhabitants of form the territory under research.
