BEYOND IMAGINATION: NATION, RACE AND GENDER AND HELEN OF "LIVING THE LIFE"

Abstract
In this article we take into account some thinking ahead to the interconnection of some complex fields of study: the field of studies on nation/nationalism, race/racism, identity politics and gender studies. This interconnected analysis has sought to accomplish from mainly a look turned to some black and female characters selected from different Brazilian soap operas and performed by actress Tais Araujo. Through the analysis of hers protagonists and a strong symbolic scene of aggression perpetrated by a white woman against a black woman (the Helena from the soap opera "Living Life" from Globo TV). From this scene, as well as analysis of other two protagonists played by Tais Araujo, we propose some interpretations through the approach of some important debates either cut out the ideas of nation, 'race' and gender.
