BLACK BODIES AND SOCIAL REPRESENTATION IN BRAZIL: A DISCUSSION OF GENDER AND RACE
Main Article Content
Abstract
The present work intends to analyze the social representations of black bodies in Brazil, understanding how the hegemonic discourses, in seeking to stereotype negatively the blacks, their cultures and discourses, are constituted as a power relation and, therefore, aim to reinforce and at the same time, naturalized stigmatized places in society. Besides, in order to make a gender set, we seek to bring out how black women suffer from a double oppression when they are stereotyped from a racist and sexist viewpoint, which also perpetuates an image of them from the slavery times.
