INSUBORDINATION (BLACK MATHEMATICS, MATHEMATICS IN THE FEMININE)
Main Article Content
Abstract
This theoretical-philosophical essay draws on theoretical-decolonial, or countercolonial, feminist, and poststructuralist literature to develop a critique of hegemonic mathematics, highlighting its historical configuration as the only possibility of mathematical knowledge. This critique opens the way for recognizing situated, embodied, and insurgent mathematics, which is fundamentally rooted in the experiences of women, Black people, and historically marginalized groups. From this critical perspective, a path is opened for recognizing other possibilities of mathematical epistemologies through art, popular culture, and counter-hegemonic practices.
