QUALITY OF LIFE IN BLACK ELDERLY PEOPLE WITH CHRONIC DISEASES: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW UNA REVISIÓN SISTEMÁTICA
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article analyzes the factors that influence the quality of life of elderly Black individuals with chronic diseases, focusing on social inequalities and the impact of structural racism on physical health and dignified aging. The systematic review, conducted according to PRISMA guidelines, included 30 studies from Scopus, SciELO, and BVS databases. The findings reveal a high prevalence of chronic diseases worsened by barriers to healthcare, low income, and racial discrimination. A scientific gap is identified regarding the lifetime effects of racism, rarely addressed in public health. This study calls for urgent ethical, rigorous, and socially committed engagement by health researchers to confront this historical omission.
