Abstract
Integrative literature review aimed at analyzing audiological studies with Black participants. Articles were retrieved from the PubMed, Embase, Lilacs, and Web of Science databases. The research question was: "What is the prevalence of hearing loss in the Black population?" The descriptors used were: Hearing Loss, Hearing Impairment, Hypoacus, Transitory Hearing Loss AND Black People OR African Continental Ancestry Group OR Black Person OR Negroid Race OR Negro OR Negroes. Studies in English, Portuguese, and Spanish were included. A total of 302 articles were identified. After the initial screening stages, five articles (1.7%) were selected. All studies were from the United States and showed a high prevalence of hearing loss among participants, with environmental factors potentially influencing the results.
