Abstract
A lei 10.639/2003, é resultado de um longo processo histórico do movimento negro organizado para o reconhecimento e necessidade de um ensino brasileiro antirracista. Compreende-se, nesse ensaio, a lei 10639/2003 que legisla sobre a temática africana e afro-brasileira na educação básica como um projeto decolonial do conhecimento. A partir de referencial bibliográfico que versa sobre o projeto decolonial (BALLESTRIN, 2013; MIGNOLO, 2003; CASTRO-GÓMEZ, GROSFOGUEL, 2007; QUIJANO, 2007, 2010); e a lei 10639 (AVELAR; VALENTIM, 2009; GOMES, 2012), busca-se, refletir sobre o movimento negro e a referida lei como ações de um projeto decolonial em curso na educação brasileira. Portanto, apesar das lacunas para uma efetiva implementação da lei, a mesma apresenta-se como um projeto decolonial do poder, do saber e do ser ao inserir no sistema educacional uma história outra.
