Abstract

The production of knowledge in the light of sociocultural practices every day manifests itself as one of the biggest challenges in contemporary times. It is an interdisciplinary task because of the multiple facets of the reality found in the search field. Religiosity and africanBrazilian culture in identity formation is a result of an extension project developed by an interdisciplinary team of researchers from Unigranrio, by means of an edict Faper,j in the region of Conservatória, Ipiabas and Barra do Piraí, whose objective was to investigate the relevance of cultural elements in the formation of identity of the inhabitants of that region. The research showed the marked traits of african-Brazilian religiosity present in spaces of local worship manifestations as jongo, capoeira and maroon; as well as black consciousness through the work of Pastoral Agents Blacks in the Catholic Church. The reality explained a great wealth fruit of resistance processes of black culture.
