Abstract

The denial of values and identity for blacks in Brazil has forged an invisibility of black people. The black people exist, but as if they did not exist. Thus, history has systematically denied they while possessors of values, culture, identity, dignity and citizenship. This reality worked as motivator for scholars and historians in the discovery of the need to retell and rewrite the history of Brazil. At this time, not from the perspective of the winners, but from the perspective of the losers, namely, from the place of the black community. This text aims to contextualize the specific struggles of the black community in a larger context, the social movement. In a first moment this community organizes itself and operates while impoverished in general and devoid of consciousness of blackness and social struggle. However, they become aware of the specificity of blackness and organized while black movement and contribute to rethinking the dignity and citizenship for everyone in the country, making the fight against racism their main flag of struggle
