Abstract

The Congo dos Milagres is part of the African legacy in the Cariri cearense, however, little known and poorly studied, from the point of view of the culture of Ceará and its contribution to education. In this article we analyze this artifact of the black culture of Cariri by establishing relations with the African influence in Brazil. The study of caririenses Africanities unveiled unknown stories and that carry significant elements to understand the local historic and cultural context. This knowledge is contrasted to the discourse of black invisibility in the State of Ceará and constitutes an important component in the formation of children and young blacks and non-blacks who attend local schools.
