Abstract

The Eurocentric impositions ingrained in the colonial project established epistemic racism as a strategy, with its primary form of operation being epistemicide—a means to refute the legitimacy of African worldviews and those of native peoples. Psychology, as practiced in Brazil, is a young field of knowledge that has been increasingly called upon to decolonize itself, adopting specific perspectives of the populations it engages with. In an effort to scrutinize the articulations and references that Psychology has developed concerning black populations and their demands, as well as how these productions are integrated into Psychology Teaching, I aim to retrieve insights and questions forged through the struggles of Psychology in three countries: Brazil, South Africa, and the United States of America.
