Abstract
In this article, I bring an excerpt from a research that I developed in the Postgraduate Program in Race Relations - PPRER/RJ, entitled, Institutional Racism (re)veiled in discretionary management acts and its impact on the mental health of black female employees at a University Federal Public Service of Southeastern Brazil, in the year 2023. From the position of a black woman, a public servant at the University, I intend, based on the racial discrimination suffered in this work environment, to point out aspects of veiled racism that led me to psychological suffering and, later, mental illness, to problematize how racial discrimination impacts directly on the mental health of the black population, not being restricted to the process of individual illness; but collective, as a structural phenomenon that is reproduced in social relations.
