Abstract

Racial microaggressions are chronic and subtle slurs committed against non-White individuals, based on their race. The aim of this study was to review the literature in Portuguese and English on gendered racial microaggressions, focusing on Black women. The database Portal de Periódicos CAPES was used, and 21 papers were selected. The microaggressions are related to traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, and suicide ideation, influencing on self-esteem and self-valuing. Black women tend to respond to microaggressions by confronting (stating that a comment was racist), not confronting, or changing the narrative, denying that an episode was racist. Just one paper was carried out in Brazil, what shows the importance of researching this topic.
