DR. OCTÁVIO ALENCAR DE LIMA: A MAN OF MANY INGENUITIES

Abstract
This text aims to present the trajectory of the black engineer Dr. Octávio Alencar de Lima. Graduated in the first Civil Engineering class at the University of Paraná, in 1918, he built an important career in research and mining in municipalities of Paraná in the 1920s and 1930s. In addition to engineering, Octávio made a career as a professor, creating his own teaching establishment in Curitiba, in the 1910s. In the political field, it is identified that Octávio was the first black man elected mayor in the state, still in the Old Republic, establishing political connections with important groups in the region. The data obtained for the construction of the biographical and genealogical aspects derive from research in newspapers available in the newspaper library of the National Library, genealogical platforms and works dealing with the politics of Paraná.
