Abstract

The main objective of this research was to understand how black students at IF Goiano Campus Urutaí deal with their racial identity in the school environment and what role the school plays in the construction of this identity. We propose: i) To identify the school experience of black students at Campus Urutaí; ii) To verify, from the perception of black students, whether racial issues are addressed in everyday school life; iii) Identify the role of the institution in the construction/fragmentation of the identity of these students. Data were collected through a closed interview with a structured questionnaire. We concluded that the majority could not identify racial discrimination in the classroom, there were few actions/events on the subject, a significant lack of knowledge of Neabi and the affirmative action policies promoted by the institution. It is expected that there will be the development of actions that bring knowledge and practice of these policies, building respect and ethnic-racial recognition.
