Abstract

The present work aims to analyze the discourses produced on blacks in the didactic books Little History of Brazil: by questions and answers - for the use of Brazilian childhood (1950), by Joaquim Maria de Lacerda (1838-1886). Given the protagonist of didactic books in the diffusion of knowledge considered legitimate and desirable at a given historical moment, the analyzes undertaken here seek to investigate the way in which the author constructs the history of these subjects, linked to a narrative that presents the facts considered "remarkable" in the history of Brazil. Thereby, the analysis’s theoretical framework is the elaborations on Michel Foucault's theory of discourse (1926-1984) and his contributions regarding the status of truth achieved by socially legitimized discourses.
